Black Sheep – The Choice Is Yours

Welcome to Hampsterdam. Kia has come out with a string of car commercials (Yes, I know, they still make cars?) that feature the Urban Hamsters. I find these little dudes hilarious. I even think one of the Hamsters is rockin’ some white Beats by Dr Dre. To my surprise, these commercials have featured some great music. The first one featured the group Goldfish (ironically) with their hit “Fort Knox“. More recently, Kia has decided to go old school with the Hip-Hop duo out of Queens, Black Sheep. While their biggest hit, “The Choice is Yours”, was well known, it is most famous for being sampled in Fatboy Slim‘s “Weapon of Choice”. “The Choice is Yours” is straight up 90s rap while “Weapon of Choice” is classic Fatboy Slim, a bunch of well known samples mixed. Both songs are good in their own ways, although I tip the scale towards Fatboy Slim for having the greatest music video of all-time featuring Christopher Walken.

My mom and I cry we laugh so hard when we see that commercial.

Also, Mr. Walken is a fox.

Brilliant! I quoted you – this post – on my blog! I had it all wrong…here i thought the commercial was sampling Fat Boy Slim – then i searched to see which song was first and found your excellent & erudite take on these two very intriguing songs! Thank you & Cheers!
