I blog to the Hold My Coat faithful with a wide grin today because one of my favorite mash-up artists dropped their 2nd album today. The White Panda did its thang. For me, “Rematch” is to “Versus” like what “The Dark Knight” was to “Batman Begins”, a true gauge of the mash-up duo’s potential and lays the blueprint for what is to come in the future. The White Panda takes 47 mash-ups and condenses them into 14 dope tracks. It has elements of most genres and makes listening to mash-ups an unbelievable experience. “Rematch” throws you into a time machine, mashing songs from my prepubescent, high, whiny voice years to today’s hits. I simply don’t have the time and energy to list all the songs that are mashed because I would not do them justice. There is something for everything in “Rematch”. If your hungry for some great mash-ups, “Rematch” will give you your breakfast, lunch, and dinner…and fourth meal. If you don’t really dig mash-ups, “Rematch” could convince you otherwise. Some might ask, “Beaver, don’t you think your hyping up “Rematch” up too much?” Maybe, but I’m so confident you’ll like what The White Panda is doing you might even throw them a few bills, like I did (The White Panda offers “Rematch” for free but gives you the option to pay any amount for their hard work, including $0).
