ScienZe & King I Divine released this free project back in mid-March, on and in collaboration with, 2dopeboyz. Divine ScienZe was so well received by so many listeners, I decided to give it a listen myself. As the last song was coming to its end, I played that $#!+ back because I just had to hear it again. So I suggest that you, at the very least, check out a few songs. “Hero” is certainly one of the top tracks on the tape. Also may I suggest that you imbibe in the sweet sounds of “Peace” as well as the Dilla-esque, “Enjoy Tonight” – and lastly, if you download it after those two, you’ll get the hidden track “How I’m Designed.” This tape has roots in boom-bap and underground, and displays an extensive amount of quality sampling. #HIPHOP

The majority of you probably don’t know this about me due to the fact that I write for a hip-hop/electro/indie blog, but Grateful Dead is one of my favorite bands of all-time. Here we have a hip-hop producer, Keswick, creating some dope hip-hop production that samples nothing but the music of Grateful Dead. After hearing it, I was impressed with the outcome of working with such timeless music. Below you can find a brief message from Keswick, along with a sampler video and a full stream and download of the project. This is definitely worth checking out, especially if you’re a Grateful Dead fan such as myself. Hope you enjoy.

I recently discovered that my first concert ever was a Grateful Dead show at the Spectrum (Philly), in 1989 (even before I was born). After finding this out, I borrowed my parents’ massive collection of Grateful Dead vinyl, tapes, and cds and compiled an instrumental hip-hop project entitled “The Grateful Kez”.
